Bears in the Night.
This was one of my faves when I was little. Tonight Ethan picked it off the shelf and read it beautifully. Amaze.
Our long awaited 4 days camping finally arrived last week and we had a blast. We returned to our old faithful spot Mangawai and even scored our most favourite camp site, #1 Rum Alley

Dave and I were so happy for our little break……so was Ethan, we barely saw him for 4 days!

This is what I did on my holiday………………………………………and this is what the boys did. Everyone’s happy!

Ethan made A LOT of new friends……..some wore black jeans, some didn’t but that’s ok with him, he knows his roots after all.

Ethan’s new friends made him really happy

and really dirty!

And then there were the fish

One of the campers taught Ethan how to dig for cockles…………..he ate them raw.

The End.

I haven’t purchased ANYTHING for a while now, since Christmas really so I was heading into dangerous territory when Ethan and I headed to the shops to kill an hour before swimming yesterday. Farmers were having one of the perpetual sales though and they had a huge bargain/dollar section, most of which was uggg-leee BUT there were some gems to be scored;

- A lemon zester for $3! Have you ever tried making Key Lime Pie without a zester? Yeah, it’s not pretty. I have wanted one of these for ever.
- Amazing silicone food ties. These are like re-useable zip ties for the kitchen! $2 for a pack of 6 ties. I had never seen such a wondrous thing so I bought 2 packs.
- Pack of 3 tea towels in the cutest print for $5. These are now washed and I am going to donate some of the old ones to Dave’s rag bag.
I know, a total yawn-worthy post, but we had fun hunting for bargains we didn’t need per say, but are happy we brought home.
and this post is what it looks like;
- It’s freezing ass cold again and it’s now spring time. What the shit is this weather oh yea in charge of weather business? The cold girl who is always cold (ME) is cold again, so much so that in our heated office I had a woollen coat on, my scarf wrapped up around my face, my nana blanket wrapped around my legs and a fan heater hidden under my desk! Not happy.
- I had deadlines today at work. There are more deadlines on Friday. These don’t really gel with my former SAHM-ethos of ‘It’ll get done when I feel like it’. I’m OVER deadlines, people need to just recognize, and be happy that I even get any work done or potentially finish any projects when they constantly change their minds about said project. Mmmm-hmmmm, yes but I do love that fleeting moment every two weeks when that money briefly touches down in my bank account before permanently departing for the shores of people-who-expect-me-to-pay-for-their-services.
I have survived (successfully I might add!) 7 days of The Flat Belly Diet. I LOVE this eating plan. I feel fab, have completely revolutionised the way I eat and deal with food (by ‘deal with’ I mean consume constantly), have totally kicked caffeine drinks (I have had no Coke Zero or energy drinks in 7 DAYS!!!!), have only had 2 small glasses of red wine in 7 days (this was factored into my daily calorific intake) and……I can still eat chocolate as long as it’s the good stuff – 70% cocoa choccy. The food is great once you get past the 4 day jumpstart and for the first time ever in my life I feel confident that I will be able to lose the 6-8 extra kilos I’m carrying.- Best news so far this week – The Westie Mums won our first netball game of the season!!!! It was so much more enjoyable than losing, and the only injury sustained by me was a strained calf muscle. I’ll take it.
- If you can spare a couple of dollars please foll0w the link below to donate to The Red Cross Appeal for Tsunami ravaged Samoa, these people and this country need our help and money.
The precious one was laying on the rug today watching some shark DVD or other, I was putting away groceries. Out of the blue and without looking at me he says
“Mama you’re not fat”
Delirious and a little giddy with joy;
“What did you say?”
“I said you’re not fat”.
That’s what I thought he said – and we’re not even in a toy shop!
“Why do you say that bub?”
“I just know that you worry about it, and I don’t want you to worry about it”.
Oh that is sweet and scary. I need to shut my mouth more often – around Ethan and food!
And then, when I am rolling out the pastry for the steak and vege pie, he sneaks under the window and lays this pile of delicious spring flowers on the window sill – what a perfectly matched palette!
