E’s gorgeous little country school has been studying ‘The Olden Days” this term, so after the requisite trip to MOTAT the whole school dressed up in period costumes and spent the day not doing school work! Love it. How cute is he?

Cinnamon, White Chocolate & Oat Cookies

BAKE THESE COOKIES. I swear you will not be disappointed – adapted and tweaked from a couple of other recipes into my own mongrel favourite;

You will need:

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup caster sugar

1 cup butter, room temp

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

1 3/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 coconut

1 cup porridge oats

1/2 to 1 cup dried fruit, raisins, cranberries or chopped apricots

1 cup chopped white chocolate buttons

Preheat oven to 180° C, cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time beating well between. Add flour, salt and baking soda – stir gently. Add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine.

Roll into balls with wet hands and press down to flatten.

Bale 8-10 mins until golden brown.

Upside Down

You know how people say that life can change in an instant? Well life has changed, been flipped on it’s ass and all of us along with it.
It began with a visit to the doctor for a pesky cough. A sinister cough that was actually indicative of a big ass tumour hiding in Dad’s lung. An X-ray showed this and a ct scan showed some more masses on his spine and in his lymph nodes. Holy hell.
Surgery not an option there would not be enough viable lung tissue remaining so chemo began on Wednesday.
We are 2 days post chemo now and Dad is doing great, I’m playing chauffeur so he doesn’t go crazy in the house and can keep jobs rolling. His attitude is amazing, so positive and strong I don’t think I would be able to drag myself out of bed or my lip off the ground.

A very serious wtf moment

Ethan and I were walking up to Starship Hospital today to visit my cousin when we happened upon a very strange turn of events, take a look…..
I mean, what exceptional judgement. When I lose control of my car in the future I am totally going to do it in front of Auckland hospital, I mean who else gets parking like this? All jesting aside, it was a small miracle that all the suffering patients were able to limp off the wall where they were sucking down their cigarettes and get out of the way.

Monday’s Pics of Sunday

Another sunny, winter Sunday. This has {so far} been one of the best winters I can remember, not too much rain and loads of glorious sunny, blue sky days.

Mum bought Ethan 2 massive shipping containers on Trade Me last week, so the boys project this weekend was to turn them into a play hut for Ethan. After a few modifications the boys were ready to paint, although Ethan swears it’s not finished until there are rainbows and dragons painted on it (WTF?).

Well the paint had to dry, so we packed up and headed to the ramp at Muriwai for the afternoon.

It was so sunny and warm, Dave had a great session on the ramp, Ethan got his pushing sussed on the flat and I read my book in the sun. It was lovely!

No inspiration. Winter you are failing me! Blogging is tres hard at the moment, but there seems to be a general consensus about this across the NZ blog spectrum so I’m not feeling too neglectful. So, in honour of having nothing to say, I present you with some photos of below average quality because I have also just realised I haven’t taken one picture on my DSLR this whole month! Gasp. WTF?

The Jack luck appears to be a genetic thing, Ethan's name got pulled from the prize barrel on Studio 2 last week and he won a PSP + Game! Amaze.

The weather has been perfect these school holidays {aside from today when it has started raining}. Ethan has had the best time playing outside all day, sans mud!

Ethan and Dave got busy one sunny day and made me a vege garden out of railway sleepers! Love it.

...............and I looked on and soaked up the sun. Bliss.
