Favourite game. Slipping on the tramp in wetsuits in the winter rain with soap and bubbles. Then a hot bath afterwards.

  2. Lynette · July 11, 2012

On a wet rainy day I love Scrabble, but with the children it would have to be dominoes. My NZ grabdchildren love Milo and also ball games. x

  3. Deborah Lehndorf · July 11, 2012

Favourite holiday boredom buster is heading to the beach. In summer spending the day with buckets, spades, various sporting equipment and a picnic. In winter, heading down the beach on a sunny day with the dog in toe and a tennis and rugby ball. A beach with big sand banks to run up and down is even better, especially if you've got boggy boards or a big bit of cardboard to slide back down them!! Finish the day with a play at the park and a big ice cream!! Perfect x

  4. Leah · July 11, 2012

This kit looks fab Melissa! Can't wait until my little one is big enough to play with stuff like this 🙂

  7. Sarah Ellis-Kirifi · July 12, 2012

My two, I don't know why, like to put heaps off stuff on the tramp and then spend hours trying to bounce it off??? making huts in the lounge is another time consuming game and I'll admit we still make art out of macaroni!

  8. Miriam Matthews · July 12, 2012

In the middle of winter, on a nice sunny day I give the kids some homemade paint to go crazy with outside. Then the next time it is pouring down with rain the kids love to go out and try and remove the paint from the ground. Always followed by a nice warm bubblebath.

  9. Liz M · July 12, 2012

These holidays we have loved playdough for indoor fun with all the rain – and then good old bikes and balls for when the sun has finally come out

The tramp is also popular all the time in our household. The kids are also into lego big time at the moment so that is great for challenging their logical thinking and manipulative skills, keeps them busy for hours. Then once it is made they make up stories as they play with it. We often do baking together as well.

  22. Zylla Green · July 12, 2012

Card games while drinking hot milo on wet or cold days. Collecting shells at the beach when the sun is shining.

I always give mine a project. We have spent the last week planning my boys birthday party . And I mean WE. The kids had to send the invitations, plan the menu, write a shopping list. Research and design a cake. Make a papermache Pinata, wrap pass the parcel, make decorations. etc. Its great. Gives them ownership of the event and makes the anticipation even greater!

  32. Bennybear · July 12, 2012

On the first day of the holiday's we write down the alphabet and beside each letter we have to write and activity. For example E= Extremely cool outing to the park, X= Xtreme games day. We have no time to get bored as we have to complete the list by the end of the holidays

  37. Maria · July 13, 2012

My loves to ride their bike. So if the weather is good, we go to our local park and ride bikes. But on a wet day, that when we have to be creative. We do lots of artworks using colorings, paintings, and make stuffs using carton boxes. Our last option is getting dvd's or watching movies.

  38. Emma Kaye · July 14, 2012

We love making obstacle courses out of just about everything we can find in the house, from pots to stand on through to planks of wood from our rennovations to slide down. They climb, they jump, they throw rice filled bags into buckets and best of all …. they get tired and need a rest in the afternoon 😉

  39. Kim · July 14, 2012

We plan in advance for most days – playdates, outings – in summer we hit local parks for picnics, feeding ducks, catchups with friends or biking, in winter wet days we make up treasure hunts of things to find at museums and art galleries, go around pet shops, go to movies/plays and their most favourite – getting in gumboots and going PUDDLE JUMPING!

  50. Nikki · July 16, 2012

My favourite boredom buster during the school holidays is getting the kids to do arts and crafts. I go to the warehouse and buy large canvases and lots of little bits and pieces so the kids can stick things on them. I like to stick them up in the room once they are all done.
